Seonghun Jeong is a photographer based in South Korea. His work begins with a close observation of everyday environments and phenomena, exploring the relationships between place, memory, and the conditions of absence and boundary.
He has repeatedly focused on spaces such as abandoned residential areas and structurally generated peripheral sites—places where traces of human presence remain, yet their original functions have been disrupted. These locations persist as carriers of past uses and memories, and through color, structure, and fragments of space, Jeong captures the layers of time and sensory experience embedded within them.
In recent work, he has turned his attention to intermediary spaces where accessibility and restriction, exterior and interior, coexist simultaneously. By examining the tension between the physical conditions of a place and the psychological experience of perceiving it, his work raises questions about how places are recognized and experienced, and what remains when those experiences are lost.
For Jeong, photography functions not merely as a form of documentation, but as a method of research—one that analyzes and reflects on the memories, emotions, and psychological states embedded In ordinary spaces.
